TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY
TOPIC: OBEDIENCE (PART II)
TEXT: 1 SAM. 15:22; JOHN 14:15
Welcome to another session of Tuesday Bible Study.
There can be no submissive spirit without the thought of obedience. To obey means to submit; to submit means to obey. There can be no submissive spirit without a willingness to sacrifice any personal interest. Obedience to God means self-denial in all things including self sacrifice.
Our duty of obedience to man is on the following areas.
OBEY YOUR PARENTS IN THE LORD: Eph. 6:1-3; Col. 3:20
We are to obey our parents in the flesh to fulfill the law of the Lord. We are also to obey our parents who led us to Christ. More than that, we are to obey elders in the body of Christ to submit to them when they give us instructions.
We are to obey our parents in the Lord for the following reasons:
- This is right.
- It may be well with thee.
- This is well pleasing unto the Lord.
- That thou mayest live long on the earth.
Obedience to parents is the stepping stone to the highest sphere of usefulness to God and fellow men.
OBEY YOUR MASTERS ACCORDING TO THE FLESH: Col. 3:22; Eph. 6:5-8
We are to obey our masters – those who are our senior officers at the place of work. This includes those we are serving or who are teaching us a trade or work. That we may get the full force of this command, the Lord says “Not with eye-service as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart fearing the Lord.
OBEY MAGISTRATES: Titus 3:1; Rom. 13:1-6
The word Magistrates covers all civil or government officials – the Police, the President, the Governors, the Judges. This is referring to our obligation to the state – Government, Civil duties to uphold the law and live an exemplary life – paying taxes etc
OBEY THEM THAT HAVE THE RULE OVER YOU: Heb. 13:7, 17
This is referring to your spiritual leaders, the Pastors, Bishops, Teachers, Apostles, Prophets, divisional Commanders, Group Leaders for men and women, Units leaders see Job 36:1. Lets learn to obey.
